If you do not see your question here, call or message us and we will answer it directly.

Getting Started

What areas do you serve?

We serve Plainfield, Naperville, Joliet, Bolingbrook, Aurora, Oswego, Romeoville, Shorewood, Crest Hill, Lockport, Yorkville, Montgomery, Channahon, Minooka, Downers Grove, Woodridge, Lisle, Wheaton, Orland Park, Tinley Park, New Lenox, Frankfort, Elgin, Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles, plus surrounding communities in Will, DuPage, Kendall, Kane, Grundy and Cook counties. Our base is in Plainfield, IL, and most of our work is within a 50-mile radius.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. Every on-site estimate is free and carries no obligation. We visit your home, measure the space, discuss your goals and leave you with a clear written price. You are not charged for the visit, and you are never pressured to move forward.

What happens during a free estimate?

We walk the project with you, take measurements, look at existing conditions and talk through materials and finishes. After the visit we put together a written scope and price. Most estimates are scheduled during a phone call and completed at a time that works for your schedule.

How soon can you start?

Your start date is confirmed once we receive your approval and the deposit that reserves materials and crew time. Lead time depends on the current schedule, material availability and project size; we give you a realistic timeframe with your written estimate.

Pricing & Payment

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. We take 50% when you approve the work. That deposit reserves your start date, pays for materials and covers crew scheduling. The remaining 50% is due at completion, after you have done a final walkthrough and signed off that the work meets your expectations.

When is the final payment due?

The final 50% is due at project completion, after the final walkthrough. We do not ask for final payment before you have seen the finished work, walked every room with us and had a chance to flag anything that needs our attention.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept standard payment methods commonly used by residential contractors. [CLIENT MUST CONFIRM: exact accepted methods such as cash, check, credit/debit cards, Zelle or financing options.] The exact options for your project are confirmed with your written estimate before work begins.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The price on your written estimate is the price you pay for the agreed scope. If you add work mid-project, we price the change and get your written approval before doing it, so you never see a surprise charge on your final invoice.

Project Process

How do I prepare my home?

Move small items, electronics and breakables out of the work area. Take down wall hangings and curtains if you want the hardware removed. Tell us about pets, choose colours before the start date and point out any damp patches or past leaks so we can check them first.

Do I need to move out?

No. We work room by room, protect the spaces we are in and clean up at the end of each day so the rest of your home stays usable. We agree with you which rooms are being worked on each day and keep dust and disruption to those areas.

Who handles permits?

Permit requirements depend on the scope of work and your municipality. [CLIENT MUST CONFIRM: whether the company or homeowner pulls permits and which trades or villages require them.] We include permit responsibility clearly in the scope discussion before work begins.

How are change orders handled?

Anything added to the agreed scope is priced and confirmed with you before we carry it out. We put the change in writing, you approve it and then we schedule the extra work. This keeps the final invoice aligned with what you actually approved.

What is your cleanup process?

We cover floors, furniture and adjoining rooms before work starts, remove debris at the end of each day and control dust during sanding or cutting. When the project is finished we do a final clean of the work area and haul away all our own materials and packaging.

Services

Do you do interior and exterior painting?

Yes. Our interior painting covers walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets with full prep and two finish coats. Exterior painting includes siding, soffits, fascia and trim, with scraping, priming and caulking done first so the coating lasts through Illinois weather.

What drywall issues do you repair?

We repair small holes, cracks, nail pops, damaged corners and failed seams as part of our drywall repair service. We also hang and tape new drywall and match texture so repairs disappear under paint. If drywall is soft, sagging or water-damaged, we usually recommend replacement instead of a patch.

Do you remodel kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. We handle kitchen remodels including cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, flooring and fixture layout, and full bathroom remodels from demo to tile, vanity, shower and final trim. Plumbing and electrical rough-in are included when they are part of the agreed scope.

Do you finish basements?

Yes. We finish basements with framing, insulation, electrical, drywall, flooring and trim. We start by addressing moisture control and egress requirements so the space is code-safe, comfortable and holds its value before we move on to final finishes and fixtures.

What does home restoration include?

Home restoration covers structural framing, damage rebuilds and full-home rehab after events like water damage or fire. We assess what can be saved, rebuild what cannot and coordinate the trades needed to return the house to a safe, livable condition.

Do you offer electrical or plumbing work?

Yes. We provide electrical and plumbing work as part of residential remodeling projects, such as moving outlets, adding circuits, roughing in new bathrooms or updating supply and drain lines. These trades are performed within the scope of a larger remodel, not as standalone emergency calls.

Materials & Warranty

What brands or materials do you use?

We use professional-grade paints, primers, drywall, tile, fixtures and trim materials selected for the surface and room. Specific brands and product lines are chosen with you during planning and are itemised in your written estimate so you know exactly what is going into your home.

What does your 2-year warranty cover?

Our 2-year workmanship warranty covers paint finishes, drywall seams, tile and fixture installation, trim carpentry and plumbing or electrical rough-in that we performed. It starts the day your project is completed and covers failures caused by our installation, not normal wear or damage after we leave. Full details are on our warranty page.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Call us at the number on your project paperwork or on this site. One phone call is enough; there is no form to chase. We schedule a visit, look at the issue and, if it is covered by our workmanship warranty, we repair it at no charge.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. General Pro Painting & Drywall is licensed and insured for residential remodeling work in Illinois. [CLIENT MUST CONFIRM: license numbers and insurance coverage types/amounts.] We carry the coverage required to protect your home and crew while work is under way.
